Baidu’s autonomous ride-hailing arm, Apollo Go, has partnered with UAE-based AutoGo to scale its driverless vehicle operations in Abu Dhabi. The collaboration aims to deploy hundreds of autonomous vehicles by 2026, following the recent acquisition of one of Abu Dhabi’s first permits for fully driverless robotaxi services. Issued by the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), the permit allows public autonomous rides without safety drivers, positioning Abu Dhabi as a global pioneer in large-scale driverless mobility.

The expansion aligns with Abu Dhabi’s 2040 vision for smart mobility, targeting 25% of trips to be tech-driven. Apollo Go contributes its self-driving expertise from China, while AutoGo leverages local resources to accelerate deployment. The initiative promises enhanced traffic efficiency, reduced emissions, and sustainable urban transport.
